HAIRCOLOR & HAIRCARE

Like so many of my fellow ladies, I have experimented with hair color, a yo-yo process for me.  I mean, who doesn't wake one morning and want blonde or the popular rainbow hair of 2016?This picture represents the lightest I have ever been and I am using it as a reference because although I loved it at the time, I have to admit the maintenance was demanding!

Over time, I have accepted that you have to be respectful of the time and care needed for maintaining this type of hair color (not to mention financially capable for regular touch-ups $$$).

Two important things to remember if you are going from dark hair color to light hair color as I did:

  1. To remove brassy tones, very common with dark hair, you should use a toning conditioner.  One of my favorites: Unite Conditioner, Blonda Toning.
  2. Condition, condition, condition!!! Your hair needs a hair mask every week especially if you are constantly exposing it to heat elements (blow-dryer, curling irons, heat wands etc).  One of my favorites: Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Pure Luxury Age Defying Hair Mask

Choosing a colorist who respects the integrity of your hair, you can maintain a look like this.  Although this color was done by another stylist, I recommend viewing the work of my go-to colorist in California, Gigi, @balayagebygigi

Beautiful hair color is only complemented by a great hairstylist; Lee Rittiner, @leerittiner works with Gigi at the salon of Alen M | Femme Coiffure; be sure to see him if you need a makeover or fresh cut...he is my stylist and…FABULOUS!
